Icons – Style and Substance

Icons – Style and Substance

In commemoration of a lifetime of breaking those glass ceilings and paving new in roads for women – roads where many would not have gone had it not been for her vision – we have decided to dedicate the next few posts to women who inspire us. Baroness Thatcher – you will be sorely missed.

Iconic statements and iconic women go hand in hand. In fact, regrading your wardrobe every morning as you try and decide what you want to wear is a sub conscious way of trying to be an icon. With colors, textures, pairings and more, we try to lean in to our inner most feelings and emotions to channel who we are and how we would like the world to see us.

Often dubbed the Iron Lady of Great Britain, Margaret Thatcher was one lady who taught us all about the goodness of that well tailored suit and well paired earrings with that iconic pearl string. We salute her sense of style.

Today we have many women emulating her. Adding a contemporary, urban or even kitschy twist to her style is paramount for the vibrant women of today. Try a pretty beaded necklace to dress up that grey suit, or a pair of hot pink heels to go with that teal green skirt. Pair a crisp white shirt with neutral trousers and add a hand painted scarf. The options are limitless. Just like you, your mood and your persona.
